Here's your first look at Payday 2
Overkill's criminal sequel looks set to rival Left4Dead in the co-op shooter stakes.

Overkill's shooter sequel Payday 2 has properly broken cover, and we've a little video preview showing you the game in action for the first time.
The follow-up to Payday: The Heist - a game that Rich Stanton enjoyed to the pleasant tune of an 8/10 - sees Overkill moving away from Sony and move under the wing of fellow Swedish developers Starbreeze.

Heading to XBLA, PSN and PC later this year, it's another co-op first person shooter set in the criminal underworld. There are now 30 missions - a big bump up from the six available in the original game - and perhaps more importantly there's the kind of polish and depth that was lacking a little from the original, and that perhaps held it back from being a serious rival to Left 4 Dead.
This is the second of Starbreeze's projects currently in development for 505, the first being the quite handsome looking Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

505 Games, Overkill -- a Starbreeze studio. and director Demian Lichtenstein (director of the upcoming PAYDAY movie) today launched a teaser for the upcoming live-action PAYDAY web-series, supporting the August launch of first person heist shooter PAYDAY 2, the videogame. The heist is on as Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains descend on Washington DC for an epic crime spree.

Episode one of the web-series launches in two weeks.

PAYDAY 2 release date confirmed!

PAYDAY 2 will be out on Steam on August 13th. The other platforms will follow suit and be out between the 13th and the 16th.

Payday 2 developer Overkill is giving away 5 million copies of its cooperative heist game on Steam.

So why is Overkill doing this? The answer is because it will soon be releasing the Payday 2 Ultimate Edition, which will include all 48 pieces of paid DLC that have been added to the game since its 2013 launch. Until then, all of the game's DLC has been taken off the market.

The exact pricing for the impending Payday 2 Ultimate Edition is still to be determined. It will be $45 to those who are buying it from scratch, but discounts will be available to those who have already purchased some premium content. The exact pricing breakdown will be confirmed when the Ultimate Edition launches in the near future.

Eurogamer contributor Dan Whitehead praised Payday 2 upon its initial launch and the game has only expanded since then.
