Red Steel 2 in the Works?
Ubisoft posts job ad for "continuation of the Red Steel project."

November 28, 2006 - Ubisoft's Paris office has posted a want ad seeking a game designer for the "continuation of the Redsteel [sic] project."

The French ad goes on to reveal that the new hire will be responsible for assisting in the design of game menus and system documentation. Qualified respondents should enjoy RPGs and have experience with online gameplay. The ad does not identify a system for the project.

It should be noted that this does not guarantee a sequel for Wii or any other console. But, it sounds likely.

Ubisoft declined to comment on the posting.

Alors que les rumeurs vont bon train concernant Red Steel 2, Ubisoft indique aujourd'hui dans sa section réservée aux offres d'emploi rechercher un Game Designer pour le développement d'une suite au projet Red Steel. Wiiリモコンを刀と銃に見立ててプレイする新感覚アクションゲーム『レッドスティール』。Wii本体と同時発売された本作をプレイしはじめたばかりの人も多いと思うが、制作元の仏Ubisoft社はすでに続編を決定しているらしく、現在ゲームデザイナーを募集しているところだ。

　募集要項によると、仕事内容は“メニューデザイン”“ゲームシステム関連ドキュメントの編集”“ゲームバランス調整”“ディレクターやレベルデザイナーとの協同によるプロトタイプ作り”など。

　また、アドベンチャーやRPGといったジャンルに加え、オンラインゲームに携わった経験が求められていることから、1作目では画面分割式のみだったマルチプレイヤーモードが、続編ではオンライン対応になる可能性が考えられる。さらに、プラットフォームはWiiと明記されていないので「続編はマルチプラットフォーム？」という、やや穿った見方もできそうだ。

Red Steel 2 vielleicht mit Online-Modus?

22.05.07 - Ubisofts Shooter Red Steel 2 könnte vielleicht einen Online-Modus besitzen. Das lässt sich aus einem Stellenangebot auf Gamasutra ableiten.

Darin sucht Ubisoft einen 'Online Programmer', der sich mit den Online-Bereichen einer Spiel-Engine für ein Wii-Projekt befasst. Der Arbeitsplatz wäre in einem Produktionsstudio in Paris, in dem Red Steel und die Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter-Spiele entstanden sind.

Ob sich die Stellenausschreibung auf Red Steel 2 bezieht oder ein anderes Spiel gemeint ist, bleibt abzuwarten - Ubisoft hat die vermeintlichen Online-Funktionen für den Nachfolger bislang nicht offiziell bestätigt.

It is at the time of a congress being held in Cannes that Ubisoft decided to confirm the development on Wii of Red Steel 2. It should be noted that the play could profit from a support online but that remains to confirm. To follow closely!

C'est à l'occasion d'un congrès se déroulant à Cannes que Ubisoft a décidé de confirmer le développement sur Wii de Red Steel 2. A noter que le jeu pourrait bénéficier d'un support online mais cela reste à confirmer. A suivre de près !

Although it's widely considered to be inevitable, Ubisoft is yet to officially confirm that it's working on a sequel to the Wii launch game, Red Steel, yet the game will be on shelves by November according to a leaked retail release schedule.

The list of EU releases, supposedly from major online retailer GameStop, has dates for numerous titles that are yet to be officially nailed down by their respective publishers, with Red Steel 2 down for a November 15 release.

That would make it one hell of a turn-around for the game to go from unannounced and unseen to on sale so soon.

The list also pens Super Mario Galaxy in for October 15, which far sooner than Amazon UK's November 30 ETA. Sooner rather than later on that one, please Nintendo.

Interestingly, the same list has Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Wii Fit all down for February 15 next year (currently officially "early 2008"). Three big titles launching on the same day? That would appear highly unlikely.

国内でのWiiの同時発売タイトルとして発売され、フランス人の目線から見た怪しい雰囲気の日本表現で注目を集めたユービーアイソフトの『レッドスティール』ですが、続編が開発中と噂されています。その続編ですが、オンラインに対応するのではないかと囁かれさています。

英国の任天堂系雑誌「THE OFFICIAL NINTENDO MAGAZINE」の最新号の次回予告に鮮やかな赤が描かれた「侍」という文字の下に「Bigger.Better.Bolder.Bloodier.And oh - it's online. FIrst screens and hands-on impressions. Only in next month's Official Nintendo Magazine.」という記述があります。

直接的な表現があるわけでも、この「侍」が『レッドスティール2』を指すのかも不明ですが、気になるところですね。対戦も楽しい作品でしたので、オンラインで楽しめる事になれば嬉しいですね。

The good folks over at GoNintendo unearthed a teaser page for a forthcoming issue of Official Nintendo Magazine (Nintendo official magazine in the UK), and what they found is interesting, to say the least. Splashed across the screen are some paint-style symbols with the line our Move, Young Grasshoppa?and the subtext igger. Better. Bolder. Bloodier. And oh -- it online.?

There are many games the teaser might be referring to -- including a hypothetical Okami remake or developer Grasshopper upcoming No More Heroes. The subtext language, however, seems to suggest a sequel rather than an original IP or a remake, and an online-enabled Red Steel 2 -- a first person shooter -- makes far more sense than other titles.

Of course, nothing will be for certain until the magazine in question hits UK store shelves on September 24.
