No Man's Sky enjoyed the second biggest PS4 launch ever in the UK, with it falling just behind Uncharted 4 in terms of sales while going on to become the fastest selling new IP on Sony's console.
According to new stats released by Chart-Track, Hello Games' space exploration sim sits fifth behind Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Getaway and The Last of Us in terms of new IP across all publishers and Sony formats. This makes it one of the most successful new IP launches in PlayStation history.

No Man's Sky has attracted a middling critical reception, with Crave awarding it a 6/10 in our own review. However, that hasn't prevented many from wanting to try out the game for themselves, with it also having generated a lot of interest on Steam. On its PC launch day No Man's Sky reeled in a whopping 212,321 concurrent players, despite the game suffering from problems on the platform including frequent crashes and a stuttering frame rate. Fortunately a solution to this frame rate issue was eventually uncovered.
Though it's no surprise that No Man's Sky performed well given the tremendous amount of excitement surrounding its release, these are still massive numbers that will stand to make it one of the most financially successful indie games of all time. With it now having bested From Software's Bloodborne as the PS4's most successful new IP, Hello Games and Sony might be a little disheartened by its poor critical reception, but they will no doubt be over the moon with the numbers the game has pulled in.

No Man’s Sky Update 1.05 Rolls Out

While No Man’s Sky just had a new patch a few days ago, a new No Man’s Sky update (1.05) has been rolled out just now over the weekend.
Clocking in at just 35MB, the update notes from the PlayStation 4 only mentions “bug fixes” so far. Checking the No Man’s Sky sub-reddit, users have pointed out some new fixes they’ve noticed such as the Discovery menu bug, and also a known save issue.

I know it does fix the discovery menu bug where it would crash the game if you closed it before it was completely loaded.
Wild-Weaasel:
The patch fixed the game not saving if you loaded a previous save.
And for some reason, interacting with certain objects is possible at a couple of feet away now instead of walking straight up to it. Not sure if this is related to the patch.
Fauna and flora discoveries load slower for me if I load a second page but no big deal.
All I noticed right now.

Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far. Once we know the official patch notes, we’ll be sure to update the post. In more No Man’s Sky news, some users are irate at Sony for its refund policy regarding the game. Now, if you’re one of the many who bought the game and are happy with it, Hello Games mentions that the next update (I assume not this one) will make a lot of people “happy.”

Hello Games breaks radio silence, announces big update for No Man's Sky

Foundation Update Incoming

This week Hello Games will be releasing an update to No Man’s Sky. We’re calling it The Foundation Update, because we have added the foundations of base building, and also because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come.

Detailed patch notes will follow, and release will be soon.

Coming from five years of intense development, immediately after No Man’s Sky released the team spent six weeks updating the game with 7 patches across both platforms (the last of these was 1.09 on Sept 24th which you can read about them all here). These fixed many of the most common or critical bugs and issues post-release.

In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.

The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.

Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.

This update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us.
