zombies now fall to pieces. Whether this is worth upgrading the content from a $20 level pack to a $60 boxed copy is down to personal preference, but being able to remove limbs and watch a zombie's rib cage emerge as you shred the flesh from its chest definitely adds a little something extra to the experience.

Valve has revealed another new campaign set to appear in Left 4 Dead 2 at San Diego Comic-Con. It's called "Swamp Fever," and, as the lovely lobby poster you can view in the gallery below states, "The Only Cure Is Dying." Harsh! It's packed with Mudmen, Spitters and all sorts of nastiness you'd expect from a zombie-filled swamp. We've spent some quality time trudging through the level on the convention floor and will have a full writeup on the bone-rattling experience soon.

Valve showed off the final two levels of Left 4 Dead 2 campaign The Parish this evening, revealing how the game's four new Survivors will get the hell out of New Orleans. It also showed a brand new uncommon-common infected.

Similar to the hazmat suit-wearing infected that are immune to incendiary fire, a new, mostly bulletproof infected will join the mix in The Parish. Seems a few riot police wearing full gear couldn't escape the zombie apocalypse, making the escape a little harder for Coach, Ellis, Nick and Rochelle.

These kevlar wearing infected can only be killed from behind, making it especially difficult if two are bearing down on your character. A quick melee hit will stun them, even knocking them down and exposing their posteriors. But as they charge you, unloading a full clip on their fronts will essentially do nothing.

Not sure how well molotovs, pipe bombs and other explosives will work, but we hope they'll do the work they're known for.

It's a nice addition to the zombie arsenal, which should make the hordes, normally easily mowed down, a little harder to contend with.

Valve to show off Left 4 Dead 2’s “The Jockey” at PAX

According to a report over on D’toid, Valve will be showing off the new Special Infected coming to Left 4 Dead 2 at PAX.
This little zombie guy, called The Jockey, will “jump on the backs of Survivors and tear them apart from behind”, while controlling the movements of the Survivor and leading them into areas where zombies are waiting to eat them, caress them, or talk politics.
Or whatever it is zombies do when they get a hold of your character. Regardless, it won’t be nice.
PAX is this weekend, so stick around to find out all about it

Pre-order gifts are all the rage these days, and who is Valve to deny a trend? You may have heard that Left 4 Dead 2 will be offering an in-game treat to those who pre-order the sequel at select retailers, and that treat is an exclusive melee weapon, the baseball bat.

The bat will, apparently, not just be a re-skin of the cricket bat that is available to everybody in the game. It will have its own unique characteristics to make it a worthwhile and desirable brain-batterer. Quite how it will be different, I can't quite imagine, but it will be. Maybe it will be gold, like most pre-order goodies.

The best part about the baseball bat is that it won't be so exclusive that you can't play the L4D2 with someone who has it. If someone without the weapon ends up in a game with someone who pre-ordered it, the baseball bat will be available to all. Yay Communism!

"How it'll work is, if you're playing with somebody that's pre-ordered it, everybody playing gets it," confirms Left 4 Dead writer Chet Faliszek.

The baseball bat will be available in both the PC and Xbox 360 version of the game. I eagerly await the trendy Valve haters who will find a way to claim this is evil and bad somehow.
