More than half of those games will be digital downloads, many of which were announced at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany for the first time. The biggest reveal was that open-world building sensation Minecraft would be coming to the Sony PlayStation Network, and would be made available for PS3, PS4 and the handheld PlayStation Vita.

Minecraft was first a PC release before being ported to the Xbox 360. The retail boxed version has been one of the top-ten biggest sellers in North America, according to data from the NPD Group, despite the game being available for several months as a download on XBLA.
Sony also announced that those who purchase some cross-platform third-party games on PS3 before the PS4 launches will receive a significant discount if they re-download digital versions of those games on the new console. Those games include Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and Watch Dogs.
