The Nintendo Switch launches on March 3 for $300 in the US, Nintendo confirmed during its livestream presentation on Thursday night.

Switch will launch simultaneously in the US, Canada, Japan, "major European countries," Hong Kong, and other territories. Pricing was only shared for the US and Japan (where it'll cost 29,980 yen).

Rumors had previously suggested Switch would cost in the neighborhood of $250. Nintendo has said for some time that the system would debut in March.

Nintendo has revealed details about the Nintendo Switch online service, which will be available via a free trial after the console's launch. The service supports online multiplayer and will require a paid subscription starting fall 2017.

The company gave initial information about Switch's online capabilities during the January 12 Nintendo Switch Presentation. There will be a compatible smartphone application that can connect to Switch's online service, and you will be able to schedule game sessions and chat with friends through the app.

Nintendo has not stated how much the online subscription will cost.

Nintendo Switch is launching March 3 and will cost $299.
