Testing the new Wacom Bamboo Ink Smart pen and comparing it to 2nd gen Surface Pen on the New Surface Pro 2017 demo unit at Microsoft store.

Bamboo Ink Smart is a dual protocol pen that works on Wacom AES devices and MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol) devices. You can switch between the protocols by pushing the two barrel buttons at the same time.

BIS pen has very low IAF (Initial Activation Force. a.k.a. Detection Force/Insertion Force) or 1 gram like all other Wacom pens. Current Surface Pro pens have 10 gram IAF. Upcoming 3 gen pen with tilt has "less than 9 grams" IAF.

It's easy to see that IAF difference in action in this video.
